Introduction

Hello to my fellow Laurel County citizens!

My name is Robbie Grimes. I am running for Laurel County Sheriff in the Republican Primary on May 19th 2026. For those of you that don’t know me. I am a lifelong resident of Laurel County. I was born and raised here by my parents, Bobby Grimes and Mary Helen (Smith) Grimes. I went to Colony Elementary, East Bernstadt Elementary and graduated from North Laurel High School. I am a born again Christian and I am married to my “teenage crush” Jennifer (Woods) Grimes who is also a lifelong resident of Laurel County. Her parents are Dennis "Bub" Woods and Connie Geressa Onkst. We are proud parents to two sons, Seth and Jakob who both served and were stationed overseas with the United States Army. My favorite hobby is riding horses. I also enjoy hunting, fishing, shooting and traveling with my wife.

I am Academy Certified and have over 25 years of Law Enforcement experience. I started my Law Enforcement career at the Laurel County Detention Center in 1995 and worked there for over 7 years. I continued my career at the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office for 18 years. In that time I honorably served as a Court Bailiff, Patrol Deputy, Patrol Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain and Major. I am a Certified Peace officer, Certified Court Security Officer and have had extensive training in Sheriff’s Executive Command. My entire Law Enforcement career has been spent serving the citizens of Laurel County. From the Jailhouse to the Courthouse, from Patrol to Command, I have served in every capacity at the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office.

I love Laurel County and I am more than qualified to be your Sheriff! My promise to you is that I will be a Sheriff for the people and that the Sheriff's Office will be ran with honor, honesty, accountability and total transparency with Christian values.
